About the network
The California Smog Check Network is a coordinated group of 13 independently owned automotive smog inspection stations operating across San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties.
Each station is BAR-licensed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. STAR-certified stations are independently verified by BAR to perform inspections to higher standards — required for DMV-directed retests and gross-polluter recertification.
What we share across all 13 shops
- Unified service standards (same workflow at every location)
- Same electronic DMV certificate filing process
- Same brand identity, naming conventions, and communications voice
- Same approach to BAR regulations, STAR program rules, and consumer privacy
- Bilingual English / Spanish service at every shop
What we will NOT do
- Perform smog inspections without proper BAR certification
- Certify aftermarket modifications without proper CARB Executive Order numbers
- Share customer data outside required state reporting
- Charge for retests within 30 days of an initial fail at STAR-certified locations (free retest is the STAR standard)
Compliance
- Every smog certificate is logged electronically with California DMV at issuance
- All inspections by California-licensed inspectors using BAR-calibrated equipment
- Pricing posted on-site at every shop
- We welcome BBB review and California consumer affairs scrutiny
